Add an Accent, Inc began importing and wholesaling traditional Chinese arts and crafts in 1980.  From then until 1999 the company has specialized in handcrafted products, including wildlife ornaments made from wheatstraw (China), handcarved and painted ornaments and magnets (Bali), Reverse painted glass ornaments (China), handmade papers and stationery products (Thailand, Philippines, India, Nepal), and artificial flowers and fruits (Thailand, China).

In 1999 the company gained the Flower Fairy license to produce and wholesale 3D ornaments/figurines in North America and other countries in the western hemisphere.  The success of these products inspired by the works of renouned fantasy artist, Cicely Mary Barker, spawned the current line of licensed fantasy art collectibles.  This popular line of collectibles currently features the art of Cicely Mary Barker, Amy Brown, Rob Carlos, Brian Froud, Jessica Galbreth, Marjolien Gulinski, Theresa Mather, Lisa Steinke, Linda Ravenscroft, Nene Thomas and Josephine Wall.
